Our commitments

Choosing the world we want to live in involves doing our part.

Participating in political life is not just about voting. It is also, and above all, about changing the world through your daily actions and consumption habits.

Being a brand means having the opportunity to make choices and to offer the public the opportunity to support them and to encourage the initiatives undertaken.

SEN NO SEN has been committed to an eco-responsible approach for many years, and here are the details of our main commitments:

RESPECT FOR PEOPLE

- Our employees and collaborators are always valued and we respect the French Labor Code. We also strive to ensure they thrive in their work because they are an integral part of the brand and therefore its success.

We carefully select our partners. This includes the factories and workshops that manufacture our products, our sales and logistics teams, technical partners and service providers, our resellers, and everyone directly connected to the brand. All the people who work with SNS are passionate about their work.

- We build long-term relationships. We have been working for over 10 years with our wetsuit production workshop and for over 15 years with the one that makes our clothes in Portugal.

Fair Trade

We don't try to profit from human misery. We prefer to invest in skills. Therefore, we strive to produce high-quality clothing and overalls, and we know that comes at a price. Negotiations rarely focus on price but rather on the added value that the factories can bring.

- The employees who work in the factories are paid fairly and work in decent conditions (working hours, rest periods, wages). We verify this ourselves by visiting the workshops.

RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Production choice:

- short supply chains when possible, such as our textile production in Portugal.

- eco-responsible materials such as organic cotton, recycled fabrics or even natural rubber or limestone neoprene for surf suits.

Manufacturing products to make them last:

- We encourage our customers to keep our items and give them a second life by repairing them and then selling them second-hand or donating them to charities. A Sen No Sen sweatshirt can be worn for more than 10 years.

- We repair wetsuits, and we also encourage the second-hand market. We are currently setting up a recycling system to reduce consumer-related waste.

#ProtectWhatYouLove

Donation to environmental protection associations

- We make donations to associations like Surfrider Foundation or Coral Gardeners during Black Friday where we donate 10% of our turnover.

SLOW FASHION

Controlled and managed production to combat waste.

For several years now, and even before the term "slow fashion" came into use, we decided to break the seasonality of collections to fight against waste.

Our products are designed to last. Therefore, there's no question of producing them only to destroy them.

A launched product has a lifespan on the market. We give it time to find its audience. This time isn't reduced to a few weeks simply because other items need to be produced... this race towards overproduction is an ecological disaster , but also a creative one, where quantity takes precedence over the quality of the products offered.

We also produce in small quantities because we are a small company. There's no question of producing more just to save a few euros on production costs. That's also why we've chosen to have controlled distribution and high-quality retailers who share this approach.

In this way, when you buy an SNS t-shirt, shirt, or wetsuit, you're supporting the whole slow fashion (or slow ware ) movement. On our scale, it's a drop in the ocean, but everyone does their part...

It's also worth noting that SEN NO SEN is an independent brand and therefore 100% managed by its creator, Mathieu Desaphie. There are no investors, so there's no need for a return on investment. Growth isn't the brand's objective; it's a means to continuously improve.

THE RIGHT PRICE

We aim to offer high-quality, responsibly manufactured products at a cost. We would like to make these products accessible to as many people as possible, but as you understand, it's simply impossible to maintain a high standard of quality at low prices.

That said, the development of the second-hand market also makes it possible to obtain our Sen No Sen products at affordable prices.

We therefore have very few physical retailers, and we limit our communication budgets.

Thanks to this strategy, we can offer quality products at reasonable prices. Our customers appreciate this, and word of mouth remains our best form of advertising.

This list of commitments is for informational purposes only and is an example of what can be done on a small scale by an independent brand like SEN NO SEN. Everyone can do their part, brands and consumers alike.
