Traveling to surf is certainly one of the most enjoyable aspects of surfing. Discovering new waves, meeting locals, exchanging ideas and sharing our passion.
Yes, but here's the thing: a trip can quickly turn sour if you don't have the right equipment, and wetsuits are a key piece of gear. Being without the right wetsuit can completely ruin your trip. Conversely, being well-equipped will allow you to make the most of the wave conditions with long sessions.
Today, we're focusing on a destination that's very popular with French women: Morocco.
Mild temperatures in the middle of winter, a variety of waves for all levels, a welcoming population, delicious local food, magical landscapes, Morocco is an incredible country.
So, what wetsuit is best for surfing in Morocco?

In winter, the water temperature remains very pleasant: between 15 and 18°C. This allows for surfing in 3.2mm wetsuits.
Furthermore, the afternoons are sunny and pleasant. The most daring can even hope to surf in long-sleeved shorts for short sessions on the hottest days.
Be careful though, the nights are very cool and the strong offshore wind in the morning can quickly make you want to put on a 4.3mm for sunrise sessions.
We asked our ambassadors, who visit the area regularly, for advice on your behalf.
First, there's Pierre Louis Costes , who spent his childhood in Casablanca and often surfs the many Moroccan spots. You should also check out the Moroccan sequence in his film Tender . For Pierre-Louis, the ideal gear for a trip to Morocco is a good 3.2mm wetsuit and a 4.3mm as an extra for the cooler morning sessions.

Joan Duru , for his part, surfs in 3.2mm wetsuits, more than enough for winter in Morocco. Below are some waves caught by Joan and Maud Le Car in Agadir in January.
Joan wears her signature model in Premium Limestone and neo Japanese ( available here) .
Maud prefers the comfort of the 4.3mm to be sure she doesn't get cold during long sessions.
As you will have understood, if you only bring one wetsuit to Morocco, it will be a good 3.2mm full suit, but to be in the best conditions, a 4.3mm for the morning and a 3.2mm drysuit for the second session in the afternoon will be the winning combination to make the most of the waves.
Have a great trip to those heading to the land of the setting sun!
