I'm a Mikey Smith fan.
We met in the early 2000s in the Canary Islands when we were filming our respective video projects, which showcased the potential of the Canary Islands' waves and skill level to the world. His two cult videos, "Against the Grain" and then "A Blank Canvas," remain benchmarks for me.
Later, we find more mature projects like Dark side of the Lens which will win awards at numerous festivals.
Over the years, Mikey Smith has gained recognition from the international surfing scene, a first for a European. And always a treat for the eyes.
