How to maintain your wetsuit ?

Published by SNS staff the

Our Sen No Sen suits are long lasting and among the best on the market.

Still, you have to maintain your wetsuit properly.

Here are some valuable tips to make your suit last for many years.

1. The rinse

After each session if possible, if not at least once a week, rinse your wetsuit with fresh cold water. The small shower at the end of the session is the vital minimum, but the ideal is to let it soak for a long time in a basin. In the basin you can add a disinfectant such as Septivon to eliminate bacteria.

2. For the dryingDo not use a hanger, either after rinsing or when leaving the session. Once wet, the wetsuit is heavier and the hanger may cause the shoulders to relax. You should therefore let it dry by folding it in half at the waist on a barrier or a chair.

Finally, still in the drying phase, do not leave your suit in the sun, ever. The sun and the UV rays will crystallize the salt which will attack the seams, the neoprene will stiffen and lose its flexibility, and finally the colors of the suit may also fade. So let the suit dry in the shade if it is outside or in a room like a garage or the bathroom.

3. NO WASHING MACHINE, NO DRYER, NO SWIMMING POOL.

But really, never... Opt instead to soak an entire night in a basin of cold water with septivon at the end of each season before leaving the suit in the closet for the next season.

Obviously avoid going into a pool with your wetsuit as it will not like chlorine at all.

4. Threading

This is a crucial moment. We often tend to rush to go surfing. But the moment of putting on the suit is important to keep it for a long time. Take the time to put it on correctly: don't pull it sharply, don't widen the collar more than necessary, and put it on gently. Don't forget that neoprene will be your best friend for comfort and against the cold, so handle it gently.

5. Remove the combination

here, the same, we delicately remove his suit, we release a shoulder, then the other one and we roll up the suit inside out by avoiding to walk on it.

Change on a towel on the sand rather than a hard floor or in a combination bag (or that good old Ikea bag).

6. then- Can I urinate in my suit?

On a short session, if you can do without it so much the better. Now, let's not lie, who can really hold it in without being embarrassed? Personally, I urinate in my wetsuit and I won't tell you not to do it. Remember to rinse well after each session though :-)

7. other tips:

- Be careful when you attach your leash, make sure that the velcro does not catch on the wetsuit.

- Store your wetsuit in a bag without contact with the board or leash to avoid snags.

- don't leave a wet suit in a bag for too long, remember to take it out to dry.

- Avoid leaving your suit lying around if you have pets.

- take care of your suit as well as your board!
